BIBS hit 25 as Gibb runs riot despite Deaville’s debut heroics

BIBS delivered a ruthless attacking masterclass as they swept NON BIBS aside in a dominant 25–10 victory, with Blair Gibb producing a swashbuckling display to pull clear in the Golden Boot race.

Gibb was at the heart of almost everything BIBS did well going forward, scoring freely and repeatedly stretching a NON BIBS defence that simply could not contain him. His performance strengthened his position ahead of Shane McCrosson in the scoring charts and sent a clear warning to the rest of the league.

Yet, despite conceding 25, debutant goalkeeper Lewis Deaville emerged with the Player of the Match award after an extraordinary individual performance. He produced a string of impressive saves and prevented the scoreline from becoming even more emphatic, giving NON BIBS at least one major positive to take from a difficult evening.

At the other end, Gibb also made his presence felt between the posts. He denied Ross Lawrie from the penalty spot and added several fine saves of his own as BIBS demonstrated their quality at both ends of the pitch.

The contest was not without controversy. Antonio Wong was perhaps fortunate to remain on the field following a reckless challenge on Dylan Pirrie, who had caused him problems throughout the match. Frustrations were clearly beginning to show as NON BIBS struggled to contain BIBS’ relentless attacking movement.

For Andrew “Stoddy” Stoddart, the wait for a first victory continues. Questions will inevitably be asked about whether a change of scenery could be required, with the player still struggling to rediscover the heights of his Home Nations peak. His afternoon was summed up by an unfortunate own goal, turned low into the bottom-right corner beyond the helpless Deaville.

There were plenty of encouraging individual moments for BIBS. Calum Henderson continued to show promise by finding the net once again, while debutant Evan Anderson looked completely at home after stepping up a level following his transfer from Raith Rovers. Anderson marked an assured first appearance with two goals and showed little difficulty adapting to his new surroundings.

Ritwick Kumar also enjoyed a landmark evening, scoring the first goal of his career to complete a memorable personal achievement amid the BIBS rout.

Eoin Smith endured a profligate evening in front of goal before finally finding the net in the dying embers of the contest. However, his creative contribution was far more impressive, with five assists ensuring he remained heavily involved in BIBS’ attacking success.

James Knight, so influential in the previous fixture, had a quieter outing this time around. The midfielder appeared slightly leggy following last week’s sensational performance, although BIBS’ strength across the pitch meant they were never overly reliant on him.

By the final whistle, the gulf between the sides was undeniable. BIBS had combined clinical finishing, relentless movement and flashes of individual quality to record one of the most emphatic victories in the competition’s history. NON BIBS, meanwhile, were left searching for answers—although Deaville’s remarkable debut offered a rare bright spot on an otherwise punishing night.
